This November, members of the Jackson Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America went to East Elementary to teach the fifth grade classes about the American Enterprise System. American Enterprise Day is November 15th, so this project is done in conjunction with this. Chairpersons Madison Dowdy, Kalli Yarbro, and Braxton Gill along with approximately twenty other members helped teach lessons on supply & demand, creating your business image, hiring employees, defining your customer, customer feedback, advertising & marketing, simple accounting, and taxes & government. This project spanned five weeks and was taught during the students’ social studies class period. The chairpersons will write a report on this project, which will compete at the State Leadership Conference in April. Both FBLA members and students have learned skills that can be used for a lifetime.
