St. Louis is one of the largest cities and largest economies in the midwest, and it could become home to one of the countries largest companies. Amazon, the company famous for free two-day shipping and their recent acquisition of Whole Foods, has announced a competitive search for a home for a second headquarters. With a supportive technology community and highly skilled labor readily available, St. Louis is making a bid.
What does this mean for you? If St. Louis is successful, over 40,000 jobs could come to the region. With just about every field needed, especially those in marketing, operations and logistics, finance, and information technology, members may graduate their post-secondary programs with 40,000 new opportunities waiting in St. Louis. Building a resume early, including competing in career-based fields and holding leadership positions, could give you the edge at these jobs if they become available.
